London’s South Bank skatepark has been a Mecca for skateboarders for over 40 years but was in danger of being destroyed by developers.
Using old skateboard decks a skateboard ‘graveyard’ was created to illustrate how South Bank skateboarding would die if the developers’ plans went ahead. The graveyard captured the attention of thousands of passers-by who signed our petition and was shared widely across social media.
Our hard work paid off and the development was halted. South Bank skatepark is now listed as being of special historical interest.
All the old skateboards came from local South Bank skaters. Each was broken in half, and painted.
